LA - Birthday Fun - Part 4 of 4

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY DAY...January 17th!!!  Yippee!  I love birthdays..anybody's birthday!!!  But especially mine..teehee!  And what a wonderful day it was!  It started out nice and slow and easy with quiet time, readings and lovely chanting music.  Then after brunch at the Cafe, we went bike riding around Abita Springs.  We made a pit stop at the Mystery House.
After brunch, my "wanderer" went outside
to  wait for me while I finished my tea.
Here he is poking a huge ant house...gotta love it!

This is where Bud's new friend lives...

He named her "Omelet" sweet...
giving credit where credit is due!!!

I loved this take off on the '...for Dummies'
series...pretty clever

There he goes again with the sneaky
candid shots

Ah-ha!  What goes around...hahaha!

It's Beethoven Bud!

Wall of glass bottles

Wall of beautiful glass shards

Turtle pool!

I took a picture of this plate
because we were in Louisiana, of course...
there were hundreds of license
plates on the ceilings and walls and floors.
While I was editing pics for this post, I
looked at this plate and it seemed more
interesting to me than it had at first.
For whatever reason, I added up the numbers
AND then added the numbers of my birth date
AND, guess what?!  They both equaled 29
and in numerology that equals an 11 which
is my life path number!!!!
I'm pretty sure none of it really means
anything, but it's totally weird
and quirky and fun!

Happy Bud who found a left hand

A 'rubber hand' high five...OMG!

I had been there before, but I knew Bud would get a kick out of it, so in we went.  Well, we spent almost as much time in the gift shop as we did going through the museum!!!  It's a really fun and funky little place.  Bud saw a bucket of rubber hands and feet and of course he was  (He collects fun things for his "grandkids drawer" at home)  Noticing that there were only right feet and hands at first, we had to search the bucket until we found lefts!  Now that he had 2 complete sets, Bud was a happy man!  And what fun we had playing with them!
I made sure to wear something to dinner
with purple in it so I could wear my
lovely birthday present earrings

Happy Judi on her birthday

Awesome silly selfie!

Doesn't this look like Bud is holding
a bright light lollipop?

Our dinner venue

Happy birthday to me!

After our bike ride, we headed back to the cottage, showered, and went into the little town of Covington for dinner.  Copeland's was a great seafood came recommended to me by a camper at my previous campground who lived in that area for many years.  Dinner was delicious and when we left, we had a great time taking silly selfies in the parking lot.  How many selfies do you have to take to get one decent one...OMG!  You should have seen the other dozen!
The next day was short as Bud had to be at the airport by 2:00...breakfast and a quick perusal of a nautical museum and then our good-byes.  Thank you, Bud, for such a memorable long birthday weekend!  We will visit again at the end of February for our two week trip to Ecuador!  Oh yeah!!!

LA - Birthday Fun - Part 3 of 4

This is what I did...

This is where I did it! cool was this?!
She turned several times in order to
catch the wind just right for making

There goes another one!
Our third day in town was great fun.  I ate my very first oyster on the half shell!  Not raw was char-grilled and I got to chew it!  We saw humongous bubbles being created in the street...I was ecstatic!  There was more street music...only got one shot though.  Bud and I stopped in a shop filled with Mardi Gras masks and the colors and craftsmanship was truly impressive.  We didn't buy a mask, but I did get another bday gift...a beautiful pair of multi-metal and purple handcrafted earrings!
So much fun!

Just walking in was like a visual explosion

These are all hand carved leather

Boy, this pic doesn't even come close
to doing these works of art justice!

These were crafted in Venice, Italy

These kids were really good

Us having fun in the city

On our way out of town, we slipped into a bar and played a couple games of pool.  Not bragging or anything, but I did win the first game.  LOL  THEN, I was totally intimidated the second game when Bud broke and then sunk 6 balls in a row!!!  Every time I attempted a shot after that, whether I made it or not, I left Bud in a horrendous position to get his last ball in...oops, sorry!!!  But he finally did and won!!!  There was much laughter in the air over that one!!!
Before we left for town, we took a walk around the pond at the campground...very nice!

Finally, and I think we might have done this yesterday, but nonetheless...we teamed up to design and implement the most hideous rain cover known to man to protect the contents in my screen room from  the ensuing storm...OMG...what a riot!  And so it goes...Duct tape DOES solve everything!!!  And after the downpour, the inside of the screen room was bone dry!!!

LA - Birthday Fun - Part 2 of 4

Bud lives most of the time in his home in Chapel Hill, NC.  Fall and Spring he spends some time on his farm in WV, and summers he loves being with family and soaking in the beauty that surrounds his home in Michigan.  He went to Michigan the second week in January to visit his brothers and friends and then flew into New Orleans for 5 days so we could explore the city and hang out for my birthday, January 17th!
Looks like we will be eating out...LOL

Hey get out of my picture!!!
The cottage at the campground was
very nice!

What an exceptional time we had!  Our first stop after picking him up from the airport on the 14th was a very late lunch at Deanie's Seafood Restaurant...delicious!!!  Then we walked around the French Quarter briefly as we wanted to get  back to the campground for him to settle into his cottage before dark.   We had an hour drive which in part was across the 24 mile Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.  Very pretty.

Art in Jackson Square

The following day we found a fabulous local restaurant, Abita Cafe, for breakfast.  We ended up having breakfast there the next 3 days as well!   Yummy!  Then off to New Orleans for the day.

was absolutely delightful.   I really liked her
The last picture is a print of a larger piece

bday gifts from Bud!
