A Quickie

***It's looking like I'll be back on the road no later than the last week of September.  I'll probably head northeast to catch the spectacular view of the autumn leaves with their myriad of colors.  I plan to have Christmas with family and friends here in MD as well as celebrate my 60th in mid-January!!!
***Speaking of my 60th...I've booked my flights and 2 week stay in San Diego as my gift to myself!!! YES!!!  More to come as the adventure continues to unfold...thanks again for joining me even during my layover here in MD.  :)   Your comments have truly kept my smile alive!

Joys of the Ocean

Van-Go and I went to the beach...woo hoo!!!!!!  Matthew, Adam, his mom and his sister's family were going to be in Bethany Beach for a week, so I decided to spend 2 days there hanging out with them.
Bright Spot-On my way to the beach Sunday morning, I stopped at Friendly's restaurant in Rehobeth. There I met a lovely woman named Maria.  I was fortunate enough to have her as my server.  What a pleasant and unpretentious woman.  She was a delight from the moment she said hello!  She made sure my order was exactly like I wanted it.  I told her about my adventure and she was happy to share with me that she truly loved her job.  For Maria, it is more like a great opportunity than a job.  I believe that there are many and will be many more that benefit from Maria's wonderful spirit!  Count me in as one of them!
She really enjoys meeting and helping people from all over.  Many of them are on vacation and she loves their stories.  She is also studying to become a special education teacher.  Maria has been married over 20 years and is proud and grateful that her family is one that has chosen to stick together during challenging times. Maria has a 17 year old son, Terry, an 8 year old daughter, Lauran and a hubby named Brian (we won't mention his

Sunday afternoon I basked in the sun and in the evening I hung out with everybody, slept in Van-Go (I missed that!) and was on the beach Monday morning to bathe in the warmth and magic of a brand new sunrise.
By far, sunrises are one of my favorite scenes of nature to photograph.  I also love the beach, the salt water smell and the motion of the ocean :)!  I hope you enjoy a few of the many shots I took.

New Granddaughter

My grandson Leon recently acquired a little sister named Loki.....she's a 13 week old pure bred jet black German Shepard with ears that flop to one side and  paws that are humongous...look out mommies, Rachel & Megan!  I'm so proud!  I'm sure there will be more pictures to come!

The Illusion of Time

Helloooo, All!
***First order of business....VAN-GO IS ALL BETTER and getting all gussied up to hit the road in a few weeks!  The last day of my "Nanny" position is Sept. 18th and I'll be spending the following weekend with a very dear friend from high school.  She recently bought a beautiful home in Bethany Beach, Delaware and I am looking forward to seeing it and just hanging out with her.  She will finally get to see my new home as well!  Yippee!!!  By October 1 or maybe before, I'll be back on the road...more on that to come!!!
***Secondly, I must admit that I am having a very enlightening experience with the little guys!  They are silly...which of course I can totally relate to...they have a mind of their own...which I've come to respect...but mostly, they have absolutely no concept of time!  Admittedly, this delightful character trait can sometimes be a bit exasperating, but when I step back and take in the crux of their absolute passion for every single thing they come is quite an amazing phenomenon!  I have truly slowed down my overall everything in the last year or so...but these guys have raised the bar for me.  The welcomed lesson I've gleaned from them is one we have all heard and too often give little credibility to......THERE'S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT MOMENT.  As we walk each day, they have no concern for before we started walking or after we are finished walking.  Each step is exciting and NOW.  Thank you Arlo and Archer for your toddler wisdom!

Where Did the Time Go???...

Wow...between having a 'work schedule' again, not having access to the internet for 5 days and living 3 different places in 2 weeks...I just realized that 10 days have gone by without posting!!!  Sorry especially to the Bright Spots that may have been waiting to see their story!!!  They are here!!!
Well, I have embraced city life here in Baltimore!  Staying at my son's place 4 days during the week, which is MUCH closer to my 'temp nanny' job, has afforded me the opportunity to ride the Light Rail to and from work.  I am nearly a 'pro' at the ticket purchasing down, know the schedule, and actually know which way I'm going now after 3 weeks...LOL  Yesterday, I even took it to the Inner Harbor for a scenic stroll, to eat and have some fun.  I didn't get to ride the dinosaur paddle boats because there was a line much longer than I cared to wait in and the boat ride I wanted to take didn't have enough passengers to go out before I needed to leave...bummer times 2!  I WILL experience them both before I go on the road again!!!

On my walk to the Inner Harbor

There was a very quick but heavy rainfall the other day that created jump worthy puddles.  Even though I couldn't find anyone to take my picture jumping, I DID take a picture of the puddle...LOL
My puddle
While I was at the Harbor, I stopped in a restaurant to have dinner and there I found a wonderful young woman who was a delight to speak with and who also shared her Bright Spot with me.  Angelina, my server, had been looking for a second job opportunity and just 3 days ago was hired there at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company & Market.  After talking for just a short while, I was thinking that restaurant made a very wise choice when they added Angelina to their staff!  Thanks Angelina and good luck!

Last week I was at the neighborhood Target getting some pictures developed.  The woman next to me was having trouble with the machine and her memory card.
Bright Spot-Unfortunately, my attempts to assist her were unsuccessful, however, we got to talking about my adventure and Mary shared 'proud Nana' information with me!  Her grandson, Benjamin, graduated from Spotswood HS in Harrisburg, PA in June having won the Medallion Award for academic achievement 2 years in a row!

Benjamin also excelled on the swim team for his school and country club. In addition, he was awarded a certificate for his dedication and enthusiasm in helping young kids!  This accolade was created just for him!   Mary got a little teary-eyed as she spoke about her grandson.  Benjamin will be attending The University of Virginia in the Fall.  Good luck Benjamin and keep doing what you do...the world is already a better place with you in it!!!

I have had a few opportunities to play creatively and that is ALWAYS a good thing!!!
I'm decorating my scooter helmet with fine point Sharpies.  It started out looking like a bright white shiny alien head...LOL  It's still a work in progress, but it is coming along.  I'm having so much fun with it!
The left side...omg, I'm so silly sometimes!

The top so far

Also, hanging out with a 2 and 4 year old 3 days a week, creative thinking is a MUST...LOL

Girls' Weekend

I met a new friend through family and we instantly hit it off.   She invited me to stay at her home for the weekend and we had a blast.  A few highlights for us were morning walks, a birthday dinner for her sister at Sakuras, a visit to the MD Line Tractor Show, finishing each others' sentences, saying the same thing at the same time, finding out that we have a ton of things in common and on and on!  It was such a fun and fabulous weekend...we're planning to do it again in a few weeks!!!

I even discovered a Bright Spot at one of our outings!
Mr. Tom Griegor and his puppet pal, Fred have been participating in local parades for the past 20+ years

primarily to make people laugh!!! Tom restores tractors for a living.  He services areas such as New Freedom, Stewartstown and Shrewsberry, PA.  He truly seems to enjoy his career, but his partnership with Fred puts a huge smile on his face.  They are a real team!!!

Inner Harbor & The Little Guys

One of these days I might just go for a ride
on the Rocket Dog...a tourist speed boat
that goes out into the Chesapeake Bay!
Downtown Baltimore!  I've been staying with my son this past week because he lives close enough to my "work" that I can hop on the Light Rail to get there in 8 minutes and don't need to worry about driving in city traffic!  Thank you Matthew and Adam!!!  It is quite beautiful at the many sites!  The Aquarium, Science Center, fabulous restaurants, a variety of shopping options, Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, and of course there's the "people-watching!"  I took a walk down there on my day off...the plan is to go back and rent a paddle boat that is shaped like a dragon!!!   OMG...I can't wait!!!

Sooooo, here are the 2 reasons why I'm staying in the city with my son 3 days a week for the next month...Arlo is 4 and Archer is 2...
