Getting Around and...NOT

It's ALL part of the journey...I've been gifted with seeing little messages
lately that have helped me be "ok" with my temporary changes in travel plans.
I am grateful for them.
Wow, life is just full of twists and turns!!!  Van-Go is experiencing what appears to be a mysterious "condition" rendering her unable to be diagnosed so far!  I've got the best of the best assigned to the case...my friend Vince!  If we can all send our highest level of cheer and support his way...that would be great!!!  I KNOW there's a solution to be had because Van-Go is destined to travel and help me spread those amazing Bright Spots.  So let's send her our well wishes!
I'm feeling much better...yeah...bronchitis cleared up with just a slight residual cough that sporadically barks...LOL
Family Bright Spot-my daughter-in-law's foot surgery went extremely well...much less complicated than was previously anticipated!!!  Woo!  Hoo!  Go, Meg and the Doc!
Despite Van-Go's temporary inability to transport me...I've been blessed with other means of getting around in order to catch a bit of life here and there!  Breeze, my scooter, my feet and my daughter's car...Thanks Rachel!
Breeze's first trip to the gas station...half a
gallon and $1.80 later and he's ready for
the next 100+ miles!!!
We took to the real road the other day
where traffic lights and cars were and
we did great...slow, but great...LOL

Inspiration On the Go!

Not much text here, but I'm so excited to have begun Van-Go's design, I had to put this up!!!  Rachel and I VERY carefully applied the lettering...some of which was individual letters...to the driver's side. Pretty scary...lol!

The project to inspire on-the-Go has hereby commenced!!!  Stay tuned for additions!  Artworks by Vincent van Gough...Van-Go's namesake...in an unusual format...coming next!!!

Then we kinda "pigged-out"!!!  Yummy...Domino's delivers!!!  At least I got the extra thin crust...LOL
By the way, I'm down 11 pounds...yippee!  Nothin' but celery tomorrow...LOL

Baltimore Artscape in Bolton Hill

It's been forever since I attended the annual Artscape here in Baltimore!  I had always enjoyed seeing the amazing creativity!  Rachel, Megan, Alana and I ventured into the city on Friday to view the sights, dance in the streets to the live music and catch a little local ambiance.  As remembered, it was worth the drive.  The fresh squeezed lemonade and 'people watching' were at least as much fun as everything else!

"Things Discovered" in Pics & Adventure Blip

Gia, the house feline discovered my
little laundry basket and has claimed
it as her own when not in use!
Hmmmm???

After I decided to place her back in
nature realizing there was nothing
I could do to repair the damage that
was somehow done.
I thanked her for sharing her loveliness for however
long she had.

A view of her under-wings from the sidewalk
and the sky that she'll never fly in again

How I found this beautiful creature...
discovered her by the path I was walking
upside down with her wings tangled and
small delicate body bent but still alive.

Discovered the cause of the need for
a bunch of jump starts and weird activity
occurring in Van-Go...this was the old
isolator...Van-Go now has a brand new one and is sooo happy!!!

These two sillies discovered that Grammy can make really
fun, healthy and yummy desserts!

Judi's Van-Go Adventure OTR (on the road) has been placed on hold for approximately another 5-6 weeks!!!  Yes, as I'm certain that some of you have noticed...I am still in Maryland.  Due to a few minor health-related issues and a delightful list of unexpected expenses since I arrived on June 5th, my body and budget are requiring a period of recouping losses...LOL
I'll be working 3 days a week as a "nanny" through August, covering for my daughter-in-law who is having foot surgery next Tuesday.  This is a win-win-win-win situation.  The mom has someone to take care of the kids for at least the first 5 weeks that Megan is recovering.  Megan knows the kids are in good hands while she isn't with them.  I have the opportunity to make some of the money back that I need to get back on the road.  Also, I'll be staying at my son's place those 3 days each week since it is much closer to where I'll be working, sooooo I'll be able to hang out with him more!
Once I accepted the fact that sometimes things just don't go the way you expected (not a new realization actually, just one that I had to re-acclimate myself to...lol))  and adapted, I was then able to see much of the 'good' in it all.
"Blessed are those who are flexible, for they shall not get bent out of shape."
***NICE ONE***
Local adventures are sure to continue and be posted every few days...so don't go away!
LIFE is still happening and that is always an adventure!

Mom and Daughter Night

When my children were very small I started a tradition where I would spend a day with each one of them individually at some point throughout the year and we would do fun things that were suggested by them.  It has always been something that I have looked forward to and cherished. This continued through their high school years.  Growing up, college life, having different schedules, not living together and my moving to New Mexico 4 years ago has contributed to the somewhat 'less than guaranteed consistency' of our special day.  However, it has not become obsolete!!! I spend time, even if only for a few hours with each of my kids...now 32, 27 and 25 whenever possible when our geographic locations are compatible!  I'm pretty sure they still enjoy it...but even if they only join me to see how happy it makes me....well, I'm okay with that!!!  LOL
Last night, Rachel and I went to the Little Italy Open Air Film Festival to see "Hairspray"...the original from way back!  We had dinner at Amici's Italian Restaurant and then found a spot amidst the crowd to set up our chairs.  This has been a tradition in Baltimore since 1999.
Movies are projected on the outside wall of Ciao Bella Restaurant in the Da Mimmo Ristorante parking lot from across Stiles Street at the kindness of its homeowner - from resident Ray Lancelotta's third floor bedroom window. Ray is the nephew of the previous homeowner, the late "Mr. John" Pente, who wholeheartedly supported the Film Fest from its inception by allowing the use of his home for the projector (now a DVD setup). Mr. John passed away in 2011 at age 100 yet wanted the movie legacy to continue in his beloved neighborhood. Open Air Film Fest is sponsored by the Original Little Italy Restaurant Association.

Helmet Help and Birthday Bash

Boy, this past week has been a blast...lots of fun and laughter.
After everyone test drove my scooter, and then viewing the pictures, we all realized that the "alien head"/"giant zit" helmet needed some serious help!  So my daughter Nicole contributed some possible creative flair...it may not be enough, but it looks a whole lot better!

The 8th was Rachel's 27th birthday and here at the house we celebrated with her wife, sister and nephews...fun, silliness, and laughter!
High quality balloon greeting...lol

Bright Spot- In Walmart the other day, I had the pleasure of talking to Jeffrey.  He was no
doubt one of the most helpful and upbeat people I've met recently.  He is a freelance artist extraordinaire!  His business is called "Treasure to Behold"...jademasters@gmail.com.  He works with multiple mediums and loves every second of it.  I guess what impressed me the most was his beautiful perception of art itself...how there is no right or wrong and that it is a pure expression of one's creative talent, emotions and visions.  His whole face was alive as he told me about various projects that he has completed for others.  I believe it is important for all of us to allow ourselves to dabble in some type of creative effort with great joy and the vision of a child. Even the smallest attempt can be truly life affirming.

Fun Friend Reunion!

My friend, Alysia taught in Seoul, Korea this past school year.  She climbed mountains, bungee jumped and on and on without a scratch!  She arrived back in the states to her hometown to enjoy a 6 week vacation before she headed to Shanghai, China and slipped on wet grass and broke her ankle in 2 places!!! What???!!!
She went to dinner with me and the guys and an awesome time was had by all!!!  Back at her parents, we met her new cat and got a little goofy...LOL  It was terrific to see her and spectacular wishes for her 2 year stint in China!  Go, Alysia!!!  Love you!

OMG...put your left

Pennsylvania Fun with the Guys

Matthew and Adam's niece Haley
What a fun-filled few days!  My son Matthew, his fiance Adam and I spent 4th of July weekend in PA.  First we had a fabulous feast of a cookout with Adam's family.  I finally got to meet most of Adam's family including young nieces and a nephew!  We saw a bird nest filled with baby birds waiting for food, played silly games with the kids, learned a new game on my cell, acquired a list of must-read books, watched huge trees dance like crazy and laughed and ate plenty!!!

Saturday, Adam took Matthew and I on a wonderful tour of Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Bethlehem and Allentown. It was amazing how much history there is in such a small area!  It was so interesting and Adam could be a pro tour guide...hands down!
